Name of our company has two stories that reflect our nature. It is combination of two words in Serbian language IT (as information technology) & kako (how) which reflects thru curiosity in everything we do. It also means double confirmation that reflects our delivery culture.


Job description
WordPress Developer
As a WordPress Developer, you will be the first representative from our team joining the client’s development environment, working on building, maintaining, and improving high-impact websites powered by open-source technologies. The client works with a wide range of companies, from startups to globally recognized brands serving tens of millions of visitors monthly, placing strong emphasis on quality, performance, and exceptional user experience.
You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, contributing to the development of scalable and high-performing WordPress solutions. Your expertise in custom WordPress development, performance optimization, and modern frontend technologies will play a key role in delivering robust, maintainable, and user-friendly digital products. You’ll be involved in the full development lifecycle, from translating designs into code to optimization and troubleshooting, while driving best practices and continuous improvements.
- Design, develop, and maintain custom WordPress themes and plugins
- Build custom Gutenberg blocks and extend existing WordPress functionalities
- Translate Figma designs into responsive, high-quality WordPress solutions
- Optimize websites for performance, focusing on Core Web Vitals and scalability
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across the stack
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless delivery and high-quality outcomes
- Communicate progress, blockers, and updates clearly in an async environment (Slack, ClickUp, Zoom)
- Contribute to architectural and technical discussions, suggesting improvements and best practices
- Document solutions and ensure code is maintainable and team-ready
- Strong experience with WordPress development, including theme structure, template hierarchy, and custom post meta
- Experience building custom plugins and Gutenberg blocks from scratch
- Solid understanding of WordPress best practices (data sanitization, security, internationalization)
- Proficiency in JavaScript (React, jQuery), PHP, HTML, and Sass
- Experience with performance optimization, especially related to Core Web Vitals
- Familiarity with WooCommerce and its ecosystem
- Hands-on experience with Git (Gitflow), CLI tools, and modern build processes (NPM, Gulp, Webpack)
- Experience working with tools and infrastructure such as Cloudflare, MariaDB/MySQL, Nginx/Apache, and Redis
- Experience with local development environments (e.g., Local, DevKinsta)
- Ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a distributed team
- Full professional proficiency in English
- This is a contractor-only position.
- The position is full remote, open to candidates across Serbia.
